The team at Thistle Court Care Home have been dusting off the deck chairs as they and the residents, fondly referred to as family members, start to enjoy their interactive garden as we see the first springtime sunshine this year.
Having an interactive garden offers the family members routine and a sense of purpose. Those with green fingers are able to plant, water, and weed their garden as they would their own. If gardening doesn’t take their interest, there are plenty of board games and al fresco dining to enjoy with friends.
It is important for the people who live at Thistle Court to be included in creating a home that feels familiar. Simon Moore, Environmental Psychologist, says “home allows people to do what they want and truly be themselves.”
