Thistle Court Care Home Invites Local Community to Christmas Fayre
Thistle Court Care Home welcomed the Cwmbran community into their home this week for their annual Christmas Fayre. Local businesses held stalls within the home, as well as team members running a festive food stall outside with refreshments on offer including roasted chestnuts and mulled wine, hot dogs and hot chocolate with cream and marshmallows. The Cwmbran community came together to support the home and local businesses at this event and there were activities to enjoy for all ages.
Residents (whom we fondly call ‘family members’) enjoyed shopping the stalls and engaging with the local community, along with participating in the raffle, which had some prizes donated by local businesses. Highlights of the day included the Home Manager and team members in Christmas fancy dress and a pug that made everyone smile. Guests were also impressed by the apple-picking wall, a sensory experience in the home for the family members with a wall fixture intermittently spraying a scent of fresh apples for a fully immerse experience which can ignite feelings and memories for individuals on their Dementia journey.
